The EAPT comes to Georgia for the first time from September 7-15. Over $350,000 will be distributed across 15 cup tournaments. There will be no rake in the series' tournaments. However, this is not without its nuances.
In its "former life", the Eurasian Poker Tour traveled far and wide throughout the former Soviet republics. In 2013, it all began in Kiev, Ukraine, and since then the EAPT has traveled to Borovoye (Kazakhstan), Minsk (Belarus), and Sochi and Gorno-Altaisk (Russia).
In 2022, the festival changed its post-Soviet habitat to the European one, traveling through the main tourist destinations of the Old World, from Bucharest and Bratislava to Milan and Barcelona. Now it's time for the whole symbiosis.
The second season of the EAPT kicked off in May with a stop in the United Kingdom and will continue in September with a stop in Georgia. The EA Poker Tour will make its first visit to Georgia's premier resort city, Batumi, a city with over two thousand years of history. The EAPT Georgia Series will take place at the Eclipse Casino from September 7-15, with more than $350,000 up for grabs in 15 cup tournaments and several packages to the season's big finale on Cyprus next May.
The buy-ins for the Georgia series remain the same as usual: ~$100 for the evening side events, ~$250 for the side majors, $500 for the main event and $1,000 for the high roller tournament. There are three main events to highlight:
• $250 EAPT Cup - September 7-9, $30,000 guaranteed. Classic " Cup" structure: 4 starting flights, each played to ITM. One second (a.k.a. final) day;
• $235 Luxon Pay Mystery Bounty - September 7-10, $30,000 Guarantee + Grand Final Package. It's going to be very similar to the Cup at first, with 4 starting flights. From the start of Day 2, the "magic" bounties will come into play and on the same day, the tournament participants will determine the winner. The champion will receive not only a cash prize, but also a $4,000* Luxon Pay Grand Final package and a May vacation to Cyprus next year.
• Main Event - September 12-15, $140,000 guarantee + 2 packages. The Main Event traditionally has the biggest guarantee. There are also 4 flyouts (played down to ITM) and a combined final day. Players who reach the heads-up will not only play for the title of the new EAPT champ, but will also be guaranteed a seat at the Luxon Pay Grand Final.
*Luxon Pay Grand Final package includes $2,200 EAPT GF Main Event buy-in + 7 nights in 5-star Merit Park Hotel + transfer from/to airport.
All 15 EAPT Georgia tournaments and their satellites will be played in a no-rake format. This literally means that the organizer's commission for all events of the festival in Batumi will be 0.
The prize pool for each tournament will be calculated according to the principle of the number of participants multiplied by the buy-in.
But, of course, there are some pitfalls. Since January 1, 2024, the Georgian authorities have increased the mandatory state tax on gambling to 15%. This means that players will be required to pay a 15% state tax on all winnings. Foreign or local - doesn't matter. The tax will be deducted at the time of the payout of the prize money, so you won't have to do any paperwork of your own.
